The present work is a excellent exploration of the life and spirituality of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi, a Carmelite nun and mystic who lived in Florence, Italy (1566-1607). Beginning at a very young age, she initiated a series of religious practices and experienced her first ecstasy at the age of 12. She joined the Carmelite monastery of Our Lady of the Angels in Florence in 1583.

Her spirituality centers on mystical union with Christ through profound love, self-abandonment, and embracing suffering especially the Passion, viewing it as a path to deeper spiritual intimacy. She also encouraged the renewal of the Church. She emphasized selfless love for God and other, as well as devotion to the Eucharist and Mary as the model of mystical purity.

Gianfranco Tuveri is a Carmelite priest and authority on the life and spirituality of the illustrious Florentine Carmelite saint, Mary Magdalene de'Pazzi. Between 2002 and 2022, he published the French translation of The Complete Works of St. Mary Magdalene de' Pazzi. He is a member of the Italian Province of the Carmelite Order but has lived and ministered in the Order's French Delegation since 1989.

He is the editor of Pres de la Source, where he published the historical novel Un Carme au bûcher (2014) and several collections of short stories, including Variations bibliques (2023).
