VOLUME 1 - This first volume examines the early documents of the Order and the written reflections of Carmel's brothers and sisters through the centuries to the present time. A presentation of Carmel's particular devotion to the Mother of Our Lord. The author draws upon the past but leads the reader through the present and into the future. VOLUME 2 - This is the second and final volume of Fr. Valabek's meditation on Mary. It describes the Carmelite witness to Mary from the 18th century to the present. The Carmelites of those years, like ourselves, were faced with changing circumstances and lived in a world always hungry for God but so often concerned with the worship of man rather than that of the Son of Man. These pages illustrate the response of Carmelites to the voice of God in our times-- that same voice that called to Mary from the very first moment of her existence.
